Sal is an information broker with a few branches in a few different cities. Unlike most brokers, he prefers to trade information for information, telling you something you want to know in exchange for something you know that he doesn't.
He often employs adventurers off to gather information for him, usually for a hefty sum of money.

Sal is generally a nice guy, very accommodating, generous, friendly.
The only thing that seems to set Sal off is trying to take advantage of him. Attempting to extort him for more money, hold information over his head after he's already paid, is a bad idea. People that do that are often never seen again.

How Sal disposes of them is unknown, but he always gets what he's after. There are rumors that he eats them, but that's just silly - A guy as nice as Sal would never do that...

Behind closed doors, Sal is a dragon - a peculiar type of dragon that is known for their unusual ability to absorb creatures and take their knowledge, memories, skills and some of their unusual abilities. Most people will never see him in his dragon form, because it's bad for business - looking like an overweight vixaen is much better for his public image than a big fat dragon, and since he hoards information, it's much easier to keep it organized on a shelf than sprawled out on the floor under his sweaty gut.

Sal is genuinely a nice guy, he doesn't have any ulterior motives or conspire against the people who work for him - the only time he resorts to the rumored disappearances is when someone is being completely unreasonable - after all, absorbing your clients gets you everything they know, but is really bad for long term business.
