ASSOCIATIONS
Current (Main) Occupation: Ranger
All Factions:
- English Nobility (Prince of Alfheim, Knight of England, Dragonslayer)
- Welsh Nobility (Prince of Alfheim, Dragonslayer)
Past Occupations: Squire
Closest Friends:
- Davydd’s best friend and fellow squire growing up. The two were inseparable, their families very close. Joseph’s outgoing nature brought out the best in Davydd, who was a very shy child, and helped him to face his fears.
- Davydd’s sister was betrothed Joseph’s older brother before her tragic death.
- Joseph had a much greater aptitude for magic than swordplay, and eventually set off to learn the ways of a warlock.
- Joseph found Davydd dying after Bleddyn’s betrayal. Though the wizard could heal the physical wound, he hadn’t the learning to undo the curse. In desperation, Joseph spirited Davydd to Skagenrak, where the blood magic had no power. Though this succeeded in undoing the curse, the spell was a one-way trip. Joseph had no way of being certain his magic had even worked and the prince of Alfheim had no way to return home. Davydd has wandered ever since.
Greatest Rivals:
- Bleddyn ab Aeddan (Bleddyn Whoreson).
- Davydd’s illegitimate older brother, Bleddyn grew increasingly jealous of his younger siblings accomplishments. He became convinced that the only reason he had failed to impress his father or make his own mark in history was due to Davydd’s overshadowing. Jealousy poisoned Bleddyn’s spirit, eventually leading him to the conclusion that murdering Davydd was the only solution to getting the prince out of the way of Bleddyn’s success.
Influential Mentors:
- Though not close, Davydd’s father raised his son carefully and, though somewhat hedonistic, did his best to teach Davydd not to favour wealth over good graces. A naturally well behaved child, Davydd took to his father’s lessons almost instinctively.
- Once he was old enough to begin training for knighthood, Davydd’s uncle trained the young prince in horsemanship, swordplay, hawking, and other important affairs of state. Recognizing that the youth had an aptitude for dragonhunting, Fflewder made sure– not always gently– that Davydd had no illusions about his own mortality. He taught the squire that pride was a detriment, and that hubris was the single most deadly fault any man or beast could have.
