Shockturnal was born in Louisville, KY but has lived pretty much everywhere. Raised in a military family and then still called Clair, she tended to deviate a lot from what her family wanted her to do and never really learned much from discipline, including manners. She moved out at age 17 and dropped out of highschool to spend her time traveling around, meeting people and enjoying urban culture in big cities. Shozzy began rapping under the name Shockturnal at age 19, and has been trying to make a name for herself (rather unsuccessfully) ever since. At age 20 she settled in New York and met Rush, who she is now best friends and roommates with.

She has good connections within the industry, but unfortunately being a non-feminine female rapper isn't very appealing to the world at large, and they simply don't think they can make her popular enough to merit the effort. She has a small cult following, however, and is pleased enough with that.

Not really one for manners, Shockturnal is often rude without really meaning to be. But honestly, she doesn't really care either way. It's not that she's apathetic, she just doesn't see the point in always trying to appease people. In fact, she never has. She can get defensive pretty quickly when insulted, and is extremely rowdy and enjoys a good fight. She's very quick to defend her friends, but she'll just as easily offend them herself and doesn't really think things through. She acts on impulse and often works towards her own goals and desires rather than helping other people, and will sometimes step on them on the way up without realizing she's hurting them. That being said, she's not evil - Shockturnal has good moral convictions and doesn't really like to break the law that much, although she will if it gets in the way of her principles.

Shockturnal's given name is Clair June Alier. The name was somewhat jokingly built around her character themes of bats, the colour yellow, and lightning.

Clair comes from eclair, the French word for Lightning.

June comes from jaune, the French word for Yellow.

Alier comes from ailier, the French word for Wing.

The name "Shockturnal" is a portmanteau of "shock" and "nocturnal," another reference to her character themes. "Shozzy" is simply her rap slang nickname, similar to "Drizzy" for Drake, "Weezy" for Lil' Wayne, or "Yeezy" for Kanye West.
