Petrichor means "the scent of rain on dry earth."

Yes, Petrichor is a tree, though a sentient one. It has a "pet" Elegant Trogon which lives and nests in its trunk cavity and defends the tree from parasites and larger threats. Unfortunately, the Trogon was unable to fend off the human with the chainsaw.

Petrichor produces fruit for the Trogon to eat, whatever kinds it wants, and sometimes makes fruit for passing travelers who are hungry. For the most part, the tree is a benevolent being, except when it needs extra nutrients and grows pitchers to catch insects and other small animals. Having a fondness for birds, though, it will always drain and split open the pitcher if one becomes trapped in it. It sometimes dresses itself up in small flowers if it wants to look nice.
