Monk is your typical crust punk chick. She is the vocalist in a hardcore band and loves to cause trouble and make perfect strangers extremely uncomfortable.

In groups and on stage she is a hurricane of energy, extroversion and calamity, but when she is by herself, she is actually rather quiet, pensive, and bookish. But she would never let you know it unless you became close to her.

Despite her hard exterior, she has a good head for business. She owns and manages a small local independent record store in the city. She lives in a small, but cozy, apartment located directly above her shop. She leads a minimalist life and likes it that way.

Today she is a far cry from the troubled pup of her youth. She and her young sister were foster kids after they were orphaned. Their parents were killed in an auto accident by a drunk driver. Their only remaining family refused to take them in, so they were thusly turned over to child protective services when Monk was just 15 and her sister 10. She became very much a mother figure to her sister as they were passed around between neglectful and often abusive foster families until Monk was old enough to leave.

She lived on the streets for the better part of 2 years before she was taken in by the kindly older gentleman who owned a record store that she frequented daily. He had no family of his own, so he took pity on Monk, offered her a job at the store and gave her the vacant apartment above. She became like a daughter to him and he a father to her. With the help of the owner of the record store, she was able to live reasonably comfortably and put herself through business school. Then she was able to gain legal guardianship of her sister and pull her out of foster care forever.

When the man died of cancer a few years later, Monk inherited the record shop. Monk is currently funding her sister's college tuition and helping her to build a life of her own while she studies fashion design.

I seem to have written another novella! I'm sorry. XD lol. I promise I will try to make the rest of my characters' descriptions shorter from now on. :p
