Gutbreath is a Jerkzerker, a clan of mercenaries who hold a strict moral code. Gutbreath is enlisted by her high-school chum to take her completely around the globe. Not because she's a good soldier, but because her car gets really good mileage and she didn't want to walk the whole way there.
Gutbreath doesn't lack skill, but lacks any amount of confidence. She's scared of more than any trained mercenary should be, and tends to get passed over for most jobs because of her passiveness. Her anxieties and fears are put to the test on a globe trotting adventure that her clan was more than happy to force upon her.
Gutbreath uses an Opener, a vicious weapon that can not only serve powerful blows and slashes, but also pry open doors with surprising efficiency. She only pulls it out in emergencies, preferring to open hand slap people into submission instead, which she claims is much more humane.
