Mekhal was a student at the Magiversity until a curse word left her lips during an incantation, leading to all the windows in the school turning back into sand. She was kicked out of school with one semester left, and now she has to make the unfortunate odyssey to the only other mage school on the planet, which is on the exact opposite point on the globe.
Accompanied by her friend Gutbreath the Jerkzerker she must make her way across the globe, while avoiding Lionshare, her school rival who has decided to use his winter break to make life difficult for the both of them.
Mekhal is measured in all her movements, but uses an internal logic that most others fail to understand. She's incredibly unorganized and has a tendency to throw a fit when things don't go her way. She's whiny, but largely good-natured.
