Orisime was born in the Valley of Fire, a place where dragons thrived. Her parents were loving and, even if rather absent minded, raised her to the best of their abilities. During those early years she found that she was constantly frusterated. Here, in this barren desert, her latent elemental powers neglected to show themselves fully, and as such Orisime was often met with ridicule and spite for being an underpowered dragon. So, soon as she reached sexual maturity Orisime fled the valley, determined to find a place where she didn't feel quite as repressed. She flew south, as it was the only way to fly, and upon crossing the craggy tops of the mountains of Wysteria, found herself in a vastly forested world, where the trees spoke to her. She landed in the quiet forest lands, finding herself on the western border of Lelleway home of the elves. The trees and the quiet minds of plants welcomed her, and it was this way that Orisime found her element. Not long after--rather, a rapid span of 50 years, Orisime found herself fishing from a quiet stream. It was there she met Ferrarious, the honored guest of Lelleway. His great stature and wisdom frightened her at first, but even then it was not long until his gentle spirit broke through her wary defenses, and a deep friendship ensued. Soon after, but not in the least surprisingly, their increasing attraction and intersection of paths led to a beautiful and vibrant life pairing. Orisime couldn't be happier, and cared for her life-mate deeply. And the years passed in a glorious blur; Orisime learning the full extent of her power alongside Ferrarious, with him as life-mate, deepest friend, and patient tutor.

One day, nearly 600 years later, a dark cloaked figure stumbled across her den in the dead of night. Ferrarious was gone providing counsel to the wizened elves, and that left Orisime alone to deal with him. She tried asking, tried coaxing, and even tried gently forcing him away, but the man was not swayed. He wanted power, he said, and refused to listen when she responded that she wanted no such thing, though the his words danced across her scaled like a jolt of electricity. She shut him out of the den with a wall of dense vines, and soon thereafter he left, leaving Ferrarious to calm her deep sense of disquiet.

He returned again, in a dream. And again, countless times over that Orisime finally felt a twinge of trust toward him, and began truly listening to his words of infinite power. He showed her what he could do, and the feats--though horrific-- fascinated her. Would she be able to replicate such things? Could she truly be so powerful that nothing else mattered? So powerful, that none could ridicule her for ineptitude. She listened, and over next 100 years, she learned. Her dark scales, once a deep green, deepened still into the shine-less black of pitch and it was at this point she determined to name this man-- Dijeir-- as her rider. It was to her great relief that he accepted and, in the covert darkness of the night, they formed their pact.

Orisime implored her life-mate to join them in their quest, and again and again he refused, this refusal shattering her heart. It came to the point when, painfully Orisime left their hollow in the woods of Lelleway, and joined Dijeir at his side at the court of Balen. A century later she found herself with egg, and it was only at this point she sought out Ferrarious, begging him to join her and help raise their unborn child in Balen. When again he refused, such was her fury that she refused to call upon him and that their child will never know of the father that sired him. She flew off, and that was that. Over the next century or so the egg was born deep in the Dark City's catacombs, closely guarded by herself and Dijeir's most trusted men-- though only Dijeir and Orisime truly knew the significance. They grew closer, soon fledging into a very intimate relationship. She helped her rider slay his parents, as they were stifling Balen's--and their-- potential. They took the reins, and called out to those who cared too much, to those that called themselves pure. War was waged, and for a time they were winning, handily.

The war was long and brutal, coming to a head when the golden dragon king's rider was impaled a spear, sending him and his people scurrying back into the far reaches of the land. She and Dijeir turned to overseeing the preparations for his coronation, and she for one had a hard time truly believing the war over.

The gold and his rider resurfaced, sparking again rebellion. During this time Orisime's egg hatched, brining a young, dusky bronze with the affinity for illusion into the world; Idian. She loved him dearly, and was both surprised and pleased to find that the cruel and unpredictable Dijeir accepted the child as his own. Over the next years, the two sides found themselves at a standstill.

Ferrarious at this point chose to side with the gold dragon and his legions, in an attempt to recover his and Orisime's child from the clutches of the dark king. It was he who decided to cast the crippling blow that would end the great war.

He killed himself.

You see, he and Orisime were soul mated, which means that their souls become twined. That is, when one dies so does the other.

Orisime was with Dijeir when this happened. Nobody is quite sure what happened, but she was talking the dark king's ears off when suddenly he felt, through her, a deep ripping in the chest; a shock of fear, a momentary plea then-- nothing. He spun around, eyes wide as he beheld his dragon, dead on the floor and no reason why she should have been. But she was, and he couldn't have done anything to stop it.

Dijeir broke that day. It was then that he realized just how deep their bond had gone. It was then that he realized that, given the chance, he would have died for her; to protect her. It was then that he realized that they had long ago gone beyond simply man and dragon, the bond of riders...

That was the blow that ended the war. The demon king Dijeir took his dragon's body and constructed a tomb to house her. Holding a mastery in the ancient, arcane ritual magics, he tied a fragment of his soul to the place, far out in the wilderness will no one goes, to act as a guardian of his most precious thing.

The demon king was assassinated soon after, and the rest of his spirit joined the part he left behind at the tomb. For, as he could not protect her in life, he would certainly protect her in death.

Such it has stood, then, for the ages after. The location was never known, and the unfortunate souls who strayed across it were mercilessly slain by the unforgiving demon. Even after her bones turned to dust, and the tomb fallen into ruin, he stood guard.

They say that one day, he was simply...gone. Some say that Orisime's soul journeyed back from the dead to retrieve that of her love's, and bring him to a final resting place; yet others chalk it up to the spirit simply dissolving and becoming nothing.

And so ends the tragedy of Orisime Mindahker, Mistress of the Sleeping Briars.
