“Дмитрий Евгеньевич Новиков”

Dmitri lives in a dystopian society, ruled by an oppressive government that bleeds its citizens dry. In the days before the massive rebellion turned civil war, Dmitri was a writer. He wrote novels, sometimes screenplays, and under the radar he wrote many political articles that weren't in the favor of the ruling party. He sat pretty on his fame, along with his wife and newborn child.

When a quiet resistance became a full blown rebellion, the government cracked down on anything that might entice citizens to join the cause. It was a genocide to silence the nay-sayers. Dmitri's writings came into attention, and his opposition was brought to light. As a result, the secret police stormed his home, dragging away him and his wife and child.

He was sent to a reform camp, his popularity among the people saving him from an instant bullet to the head. The camp was more of an experimental boot camp; scientists were testing new technology and drugs on its inhabitants to create a wave of mindless super soldiers. Dmitri was subjected to alterations that made him more powerful, quicker, and numb. He was one of the few that survived the barrage of knives and needles, much less actually become enhanced.

He was sent out on the field to fight against the rebels in the name of his nation. He fought for many years, becoming cold, but never losing his desire to escape and find his family again.

During one particular tour, he came across a group of child soldiers being led by rebellion troops. He had seen things like this before during his many years of forced warfare, and treated it as he usually would. Until he came across his own child, Milan, gun in hand and dead in the eyes. During the chaos of the battle he whisked Milan away, becoming a fugitive.

The reunion was bitter sweet, both of them having been traumatized and changed by the violence around them. Dmitri vowed then to find his lost wife, and flee the country for a better life.

He wanders with Milan, being wanted by the government and conflicting with both sides of the war.
