Yankiro is a very quiet, observing, and selfless person who loves to help anyone and anything she can. She lives alone in the woods and tends to avoid crowded areas. She is seldom seen wandering in cities and even more seldom seen without her mask.

With this solitude, she has learned to create a variety of potions from the lush forest she lives in using reagents from said forest. Over the years, she has become a very skilled alchemist, using elixirs to help her help others.

Yankiro has a fox form ( http://i.imgur.com/8SwMVJA.jpg ) , her true form, to which she shifts into and can be seen in most of the time. She can only switch between human and fox form through the use of her mask, which serves as a toggle for her transformation abilities. Without her mask, she cannot transform back into a fox or back into a human. If a human were ever to obtain her mask, if they were to put it on, they would turn into their 'spirit animal'.

Being a nine tailed fox, Yankiro doesn't particularly seduce men and eat their kidneys and livers, rather she is much different. With the ability to take and hold onto souls to protect them, she is able to siphon the souls from a living being or simply collect it from corpses. For any souls that cannot move into the next life, she holds onto them to protect them from corruption.

One soul in particular, however, is stored in her bell. This is the soul of Chun, another nine-tailed fox that Yankiro was mates with. Chun was shot and killed by a hunter; though the hunter left his body to die -- as if they killed for sport. Yankiro found his corpse shortly after, collecting his soul just in time, but finding that he cannot move onto the next life without her. Although Yankiro has tried many times setting his soul free, he always returns to her bell.

With this, Yankiro has developed a phobia of guns and other firearms, calling them 'boomsticks'. Because of the fact that she has not had exposure to any civilized conversation, she manages to speak in very broken English-- which is still understandable.
