Sibirica is one of my oldest and dearest characters. Originally created to help myself to deal with my fear of fire, Sibirica possesses the ability to control and manipulate existing sources of fire. She is only able to create flames by herself on warm or sunny days. I'm pretty flexible with my characters' designs and personalities. There are a few points that make Sibi who she is to me, but besides that, I encourage people to have fun above all. My characters look different every time I've had a break from drawing them too, so don't worry about that.

There is still a lot I don't know about her though (it may sound a bit funny, but to me it often feels like characters slowly reveal their history and personality to me. I can never make up a character who has all of that already, it's different with each, and Sibi is a particularly closed character. I still don't know why she can manipulate fire or how she does it exactly, is she some kind of fire spirit or demon, or possessed by one?). Sibirica is also one of my characters with the most references so symbolism, from her species (the bright fur and face that looks like it's covered in soot, the German name 'Feuerwiesel' = fireweasel) to her markings (triangles, especially the upward pointing one, is a classic fire symbol, from alchemy I believe) and her hot-tempered personality. I created her back in the days when my fear of fire was much greater than it is now, as a way of dealing with it by confronting myself with it. She started out as a side character in a short story about anthropomorphic mustelid characters. There was a character of each species and they all had their scientific names for their own names (the main protagonists were a male weasel Nivalis and a female stoat Erminea). I don't remember how it went exactly, but these two were supposed to travel around and find a certain someone or an object, whatever. Anyway, Sibirica was the hot-tempered guardian of an important gate no-one was supposed to pass. She carried a huge torch as a weapon and could summon more flames when necessary. And that stuck around :P I could not bear to change the name, even though I did want to at first. But no other name seemed to fit her, so it stayed.
