First doodled this character back in 2012 (I don't draw lions with eyebrows anymore tho!!!!). Finally getting around to making her, um, real.

She's my fursona's mate, and based on my wife Kelly. I chose the name Nia, which has origins in Irish and Swahili. The Irish meaning is "bright", and the Swahili meaning is "purpose". So she's a lioness with a bright purpose.

Nia grew up in a small, isolated pride, consisting only of her mother and siblings, so her social skills were stunted at first. But she left her home pride at a young age and discovered she had many heretofore untapped talents, which she was immediately driven to perfect. She's now an incredible hunter, capable of bringing down even large, dangerous prey by herself. Her social skills did eventually develop, but she still prefers to stay out of large groups of lions. She spent a few years roaming on her own, joining different prides for short periods of time before moving on again. When she met Guinn (whose parents had recently died and who was also traveling on her own), they immediately hit it off, and eventually fell in love. Being a pride of only two lions can be a struggle, even with Nia's hunting abilities, so they wander between the prides that Nia had previously visited, forming temporary truces for mutual benefits.

Driven, intelligent, strong, cynical, hard-working, fun, outgoing but also introverted, honest, independent, forgiving.
