Whi-Wa by Pagerda

Whi-Wa

Pagerda

Name:
Whi-Wa
Age:
five-hundred twenty
Gender:
male
Height:
5 ft at shoulder, 12 ft nose to tail tip
Weight:
102 lb
Species:
meadow spirit/forest guardian

Personality: generally calm, wary, curious, intelligent, fearful, resentful, cautious, instinctual (will protect himself if threatened, does normal, animal stuff)
History: Whi-Wa used to be a peaceful and playful spirit, and he would roam the countryside and farm land and bring good crops in eastern Europe. Ever since he was scorched by a group of drunken adolescents, however, he's been seen as a bad omen. After healing from those wounds, he stayed far, far away from human habitation. He would scare away any humans that found him, or he would completely avoid them, watching from the sparse trees or tall grasses. He's become more nomadic, moving across his European home, searching for good lands without humans to help grow with seeds that stick to his fur and that he keeps in his mouth.

Other facts:
His diet mainly consists of plants, but he will eat carrion and insects every once in a while for a protein boost.
His fur is silky and well-kept in the winter, and it often smells of floral or fruity scents since he rolls in such plants quite often during the spring and summer months. Despite that he keeps most burrs and dirt out of his fur, he'll sometimes leave seeds in just so he can plant them or let them fall off and grow. In the winter, his fur will sometimes clump together because of its length, but he is good about grooming himself, so such problems usually don't last very long. It's been said by the few that have seen him that plants sometimes decide to grow in spots in his fur where he leaves soil and seeds (though they may think that because leaves and small plants may get caught in his fur when he rolls about, so it may look that way).
His "feet" are based off of chicken feet, but instead of having scales, the skin on them is hardened, similarly to some lizards' skin. During the winter months, his feet will tend to get very cold, so he does his best to stay away from snow or not go into it too often.
He has a curious fascination with masks and will often take any he finds in human habitation. Some people, attempting to make peace with him, will offer a mask, either by hand or by simply setting one out. Most times, he'll ignore such gestures, but if the mask looks particularly interesting, he will carefully take it. His favorite mask (the bird-like one) came from a little girl a few years before his face was burned, and he has held on to it ever since. He keeps his masks in hollowed-out trees so when he returns to an area, he can wear them again (being that no one has found and stolen them). The bird mask, however, is one he keeps with him everywhere he goes.
His spine is similar to that of a cat's, so he can bend and curl in many ways. He's normally only rigid or stiff when alert.
When he's excited or warning, he makes a bird-like "cheep cheep" or "neep neep" as well as some other, whistle-like noises. When he feels threatened, he'll hiss, similarly to a snake. Otherwise, he's very quiet.

I see you've been commenting the same thing on multiple people's submissions. Sorry, but I don't do art for free, unless it's for close friends. If you want art from me, you'll have to pay.

Beautiful character, I love the different coat variations you have here and the crocodile masks he sometimes wears. Actually, I really like the mask idea you have for him in general! Does he ever create his own masks?
The way you've done his anatomy makes it feel like this really could be a real life creature.

And I'm sorry to hear about the above commentor. What a butthead.

Aw, why thank you. :> I'm glad you enjoy him so much!
His claws aren't quite adept enough to actually make his own masks, but I'm sure if he found a piece of bark with holes in it, he may try to use that as a mask and maybe "complete" it by chewing on it to make it fit and whatnot.
I do try to put at least a bit of realism into all of my creatures/characters; I'm glad it shows!

Haha, that's alright. I don't get requests like that very often, but it's not a problem either way (especially since s/he didn't start arguing or anything immature like that).
