This fine piece is done by the remarkably talented vp1940. I chose him specifically to provide a reference for my Gargoyle, Persephone, because of how very well he does a Disney-like art/coloration style. I can't praise his skill enough. He is, however, very slow; I had been waiting to post this until I could post the ref. sheet he's doing for me as well...

Persephone was the female lead in a series of stories I wrote years ago, intended to be a companion of sorts to Disney's Gargoyles, set about thirty years later. Physically, she was inspired by Goliath, though another character sort of took his role within the Clan. She was also sort of my experiment with an intentional 'Mary Sue' character - powerful and capable, as well as well-loved, but with numerous intentional flaws. Notably, while she both magically and physically powerful, she was untrained - to the extent of mostly having to invent her magical style - and also tended to be the universe's chew toy. chuckles

Vartan had a bit of a challenge here, for while I did have a fairly thorough description of 'Seph, I hadn't really nailed down the visuals more than her color scheme. With the exotic angularity that he drew for her face, I find myself thinking just a little of a succubus - which is very appropriate, given how Gargoyles are sometimes mistaken for demons. And brings some irony when she's referred to as an 'Angel of the Night'...

This particular version of her was done so that i could use it for the DocWagon card available as a Kickstarter reward for backing Shadowrun Returns, for I used some of the concepts of that setting to flesh out her world, and I feel she'd fit in quite well there.
