Esmaraldo was born in the low lands of the underrealm. In the first year of his life he lived with his mother (Fyre), his father (Xantheus) and his twin sister (Farore). However when he was about two his parents split. This was the result of Esmaraldo's mother being caught cheating on his father. In my head cannon, in the underrealm back in the time when Esmaraldo was young, having a mate was a HUGE deal. People go their whole lives without finding the one person that was meant for them, so for someone to find that one person was a huge honor and a blessing. However if one were to cheat of their mate for someone who is not meant for them, the spouse has every right to kill the cheater. Since back in that time there were only tiny villages everyone else would've know about the cheating too. And if the spouse didn't kill the cheater the village will. When Esmaraldo's mother was caught cheating by his father he didn't kill her. Nor did he tell the village a thing. Instead he took Esmaraldo and left for the desert where he himself was born and raised, while his mother took Farore and escaped to the plains with her new lover. Esmaraldo grew up never knowing that his mother was a whore or that he had a sister. The story he was always told was that his mother died.
Esmaraldo was a very strange little kid, he loved to cross dress and go out in public like that much to his father's annoyance. He loved to put on shows and entertain the other village kids, he was very charming and this charm went into his adult years. This allowed him to make friends as well as enemies easily .When Esmaraldo was old enough he started working in the blackshop with his father and learned how to manufacture powerful weapons using the elements found in the desert. As time went on he met a young monster girl named Gail. Gail was a spunky, loud-mouthed girl who loved to back talk and was almost as strange as Esmaraldo was. The two met after Esmaraldo accidentally slammed into her and caused her to drop a pot she was carrying. After she slugged him in the jaw and stomach for making her do this they started talking. They became friends and soon best friends. The two would do everything together, and they basically grew up into adulthood hand in hand. Eventually they fell in love.
Esmaraldo lived a lively and happy life for a couple thousand years. However that changed when he heard of the tension between other regions and species in the underrealm. War was coming and the desert region didn't want anything to do with it. When war did break out it was called the "Great War" due to how devastating it was and how the entire underrealm was seemingly involved. The desert in which Esmaraldo lived stayed out of it for a long time. But the highlanders, which is the home of the royal family of the underrealm, sought the weapons and resources in the desert. The only way they believed to achieve this was through inducing immense fear. So one night an army lead by the prince of the underrealm (Kailik) stormed into the underrealm and attacked several villages including Esmaraldo's. Buildings were burned to the ground, villagers were burned alive and slaughtered, the children were nailed to boards in order to induce fear. Esmaraldo's father was killed in the raids as well as Gail's family. Gail and Esmaraldo managed to escape along with 11 other villagers. Out of 300 people in the village only 13 survived. Esmaraldo was devastated and his life was forever changed. The trauma of seeing people he knew and cared for burned and slaughtered before his eyes, warped his mind and caused a minor case of PTSD. After the attack the desert joined the war against the highlanders. Esmaraldo and Gail joined the army, Esmaraldo seeking revenge and Gail wanting a good fight. Esmaraldo fought through the 1000 year war in which Gail was killed. When it was over his minor case of PTSD had grown to a severe case. Once the war was over he left the desert forever, seeking a sanctuary. He cut himself off from the few surviving friends he had and didn't try to make new ones. His charm went completely flat and he became awkward to be around. He found a cave in the dead forest to live in and be alone. He wanted to be alone to deal with the nightterrors, and the flashbacks. He didn't want to become a bother to society with his twitchiness and constant paranoia. He lived alone for about a decade, in that time the paranoia died down slightly and he started venturing out into the world and the nearby villages.
One day he saved a young boy from one of the child eating trees in the dead forest. The child's name was Zalgo. Esmaraldo took in the child and raised it like it was his own. But he noticed that Zalgo looked like Kailik and he soon found out Kailik was his father. Kailik, the person who completely ruined his life, the one who destroyed everything he knew. Esmaraldo loved the child but his hatred and need for revenge agianst Zalgo's father was quickly boiling. Several years later he snapped and tried to murder Zalgo, calling him an abomination and claiming that he didn't love him which was untrue. Zalgo killed Esmaraldo and fled the forest.
Esmaraldo's soul after death was sent to limbo, where he was tortured by his own mind and guilt for trying to kill someone he loved and who didn't even deserve it. He HATED himself. He spent thousands of years trapped in limbo. But he is to come back someday, someday someone will need him again.

Personality: Esmaraldo is good hearted but very vengeful. He doesn't like to be wronged and will do nearly anything to get back at whomever did him wrong. He loved to entertain and is overall a happy and charming person. His personality slightly altered after the war. He was less social but he kept a lot of his characteristics even though they were hindered greatly.
