Chad Hale is the younger brother of Benjamin Hale, who served in the same squad as Charlie Chambers during the Battle of Antietam Creek. Crossing paths with Chuck during 1865, Chad is quick to call himself the 'Right hand man'. He's hardly into his sixteenth year and easily the youngest of Charlie's growing posse. He is the most carefree albeit blood-thirsty in the group, he was likely the sort of kid that tortured small animals in his spare time.

Chad's alias of Sideshot is given once his full form of a chameleon is apparent and he can no longer look directly ahead, but now must aim to the side. This miraculously hasn't effected his skill with a rifle.
