Currently enrolled in Night Vale community college, Nadir is currently studying chemistry and the effect dimensional shifts have on plant life. They came over with their 'parent' (the closest term that fits the best) after they won a scholarship to perform their studies in a dimension more suited to it. They find a lot about Night Vale confusing! But they love it there, and will be quite sad when their research is over and they have to leave again.
They don't really 'get' a lot of human behaviors but Nadir is very pleasant to be around! They always share their snacks and they emit a pleasant hum most of the time.

Nadir goes around in a human guise most of the times (one of the stipulations of the scholarship was 'blend in') though their disguise can be rather frightening at times. They forget what proportions people have and so will have mismatched joints, elbows that are farther down than they should be, a few too many vertebrae and kneecaps that face the wrong way. They get really embarrassed when this gets pointed out!

Their true name is out of human hearing range and somewhat akin to the background noise of the universe. When Nadir gets flustered they fall back into their true tongue, which sounds like teakettle hisses and static! (Well, thats what can be heard anyway. The rest is too low to even be felt!)
