Personality: Richard is terse, stern, quick to chastise. He wears a permanent frown and furrowed brow. His posture is immaculate and imposing as a man of intimidating stature, and he appears perpetually disappointed by the short coming of those who surround him.
He has the air of an old, bitter, and jaded king, one that will demand blood when angered.

He dotes on his nephew, Fio, but worries about the lad's suitability as his only heir.

Back Story: Richard is part of the old guard where Never's Inner City politics are concerned. His clan has been around for a long time, and the Banyay family name is a well known throughout the Inner City.
The Banyay clan operates much like an organized gang, ruling over a large territory and racketeering the residents and shop owners living and working within the boarders of the Banyay territory. It runs on a meritocracy; be good to the clan, and the clan will be good to you.
As the Head Patriarch, Richard has watched the integrity and loyalty within the Banyay clan decline as a rivaling political faction of the Inner City, the Checkered Court, began rising to popularity with its hollow promises of developing a more 'democratic' and 'diplomatic' system for Inner City residents.
The power and following of the Checkered Court has become an increasing problem to Richard. The Banyay Clan, having once been the most powerful 'political' group of the Inner City, is now forced to recognize the Checkered Court as an equal in power and influence, consequently making it a very formidable rival.

Richard is now weighed down with the challenge of snuffing the rising opposition and securing his Clan's position as the top power of Never's Inner City once more.
This makes him a little irate.

Ongoing Story: He just sits and aggressively bitches a lot about the checkered court. There's not much else to be said, really.
