Hitori is a 14-year-old Japanese boy that lives by himself. His parents died in a car accident when he was ten, and he has managed to survive on his own in a soon to be condemned apartment building. Although 14, he is incredibly small for his age and is picked on relentlessly by his fellow seventh graders. Despite that, he has a very positive outlook on life and tries to help everyone that he can.

Hitori has a very kind nature and tries to make friends of anyone he meets. He's the sort of person that would give the shirt off his back if it made someone happy. Unfortunately he has a lot of insecurities because of his small size, and is usually picked on a lot because of it. Hitori likes ramen, reading, being outside, talking to his deceased parents, walking, and helping others. He dislikes being called small, being made fun of, and the scary gossipy woman that lives in his apartment building.

Hitori lived a fairly normal childhood until, at the age of ten, his parents died in a car accident. Hitori adamantly refused to go into foster care, and fought hard to become an emancipated minor. Unfortunately he just scares by, taking up residence is an incredibly tiny apartment and doing odd jobs to make enough money to eat. Although he seems happy with his simple existence.

Hitori is incredibly short, looking more like a 12-year-old than a 14-year-old. He stands at 4'8" and only weights 85 lbs. He is rather tan because he likes being outside, and has that super awesome ahoge hair! =D
