Ari is a kindhearted, compassionate folf raised into the life of a rogue. His father was a member of a rogue wolf pack, and his mother was raped, resulting in his being born. His father was killed shortly after, leaving him. Ari was kept alive for one reason: He is able to manipulate natural energy fields, using them either to stun an adversary or to create a protective barrier. His mother was able to do the same, and taught him. She died when he was fifteen; she was stuck with a poisoned knife. He hates his rogue life, but knows he can't leave because he will be found.

While Jaya is female, Ari is bisexual, even though it is not explicitly stated in the story.
