Tya originally lived in Laugk Tj'is, the main Arakanth city, but was forced to flee at a young age when it was attacked and burnt to the ground. She wound up traveling the world, accompanied by another Arakanth, but when he died as the result of another attack she ceased exploring immediately out of fear.

Somehow she still managed to be captured and brought to the shrine of T'akrin, where she was kept as a prisoner and intended to be an experiment. Instead of allowing herself to be experimented on, however, she broke out with the help of two friends she made there and now lives with one and is in a long-distance relationship with the other.

As an Arakanth, she has the ability to shapeshift into an animal. Her animal shift is a purple raccoon. Her species also has hollow canines and venom, and while the effects typically only involve numbing and mild stiffness, if allowed to build up the venom becomes much more potent. Arakanth are not immune to their own venom but do have enough of a tolerance that even the most potent doses are typically not fatal.

Tya has some body image problems, a mild addiction to the numbing effects of Arakanth venom, and is very shy when not around close friends, but at the same time is proud to be alive and to have survived all she's been through. She refuses to hide the scar on her face that she obtained during the siege on Laugk Tj'is because it's proof that she survived.
