Coal is a dagger that was initially made for the Master of Death. The style of dagger varies depending on who holds it. When Dark Rift managed to be the largest cause of deaths in existence, the Master of Death found favor in him and gave him Coal who developed a lusty attraction to him that eventually settled down.

She brought the blood of her own kills to Dark Rift when he was captured by Kaynis and trapped in an empty realm and stayed with him after his release in spite of the fact he could no longer kill.

Coal most often casts her image as a black dragon, resorting to being a pair of pants for Dark Rift when the occasion calls for subtly.
