Miette Watercolor Experiment

savannahhorrocks

Watercolor mixed media experiment with my character Miette!

A few changes to her design - her face isn't purely white anymore, she doesn't have a horn - and her tail is kind of... like not a natural tail. It becomes sort of wispy and smoke like.

She's a faerie so.

Anyway, I wanted to try this lifting preparation medium for watercolor on my hot press paper. My biggest issue with hot press is I can't get the paint to lay as smooth as I want and can't manipulated it as well as I'd like. I liked it a lot BETTER after using this medium on the paper, so that's cool! I also used these tinted drawing pencils over it - which are in a bunch of natural colors and work SORT OF like a soft pastel but not exactly? I dunno but I like them, and I like the look of this final piece. ALL SOFT and what not!

I know it's a silly question, but how do you manage to make watercolours blend so nicely?
