After a century of enslavement to the serpentine sorceress Manasa, doing her bidding with the power over air given to him by his sinister mistress, Chunder Padhi was eventually freed with the help of Master Fu. Arriving in Beacon City, he set about fighting Manasa and her operation, determined to redeem himself after the things he was forced to do, and to liberate his long-enslaved family from her clutches with the help of his new team of superheroic friends who gave him the alias "Typhoon".
