William Watson attempts to set a world altitude record for civilians. During his flight, he carries on a conversation with his father. The next day, William's father, Major General James Watson, returns home from work excitedly and announces that Vice Admiral Yamashita of the Interstellar Terran Navy has given him a call and wishes to speak with William. Admiral Yamashita has seen William's exploits on the news the previous day and decided to pay William a visit. Two days after William's exploit, General Watson arrives home and tells everyone of his day including meeting Admiral Yamashita and the fact that the Admiral and his wife will be joining them for dinner that night. During dinner, Admiral Yamashita asks about William's flight. As a result of the information William gives him, Admiral Yamashita decides that he wants William to be a fighter pilot in the ITN. He explains how this can be done and William agrees.

Two years later, William graduates from high school and shows Admiral Yahashita his piloting skills. Admiral Yamashita is impressed and gives William high praise including how he's looking forward to seeing William as a student at the Interstellar Terran Naval Academy at Jacksonville, Florida.
