Poachers in How's world can be anthro, human, dragon, demon, even Venvel if they are greedy enough. How guards Venvel trees, which are basically Venvel in tree-shaped chrysalises sleeping off wounds or sickness. The Venvel's original alien designers, the Pakarreah gave them poisonous sap in this form to ward off predators; unfortunately, the Pakarreah were not familiar with narcotic usage in sentient species, being isolated from other sentient species until their discovery of (alternate universe) Earth. Basically, Venvel poachers are drug runners, hence the need for someone as merciless as How to stop them. Poachers can drain a lethal 8 liters of Venvel sap easily, it is much more runny than maple. Also, the toxins may not be immediately lethal in humans/anthros/dragons/demons, but they can cause a terrifying and destructive trip even worse than PCP. As a result Venvel go into tree form as a last resort. So basically, the poachers How exterminates regularly are the lowest, scummiest of scum in any species.
