This is likely the second-most common angle that I’ve drawn Chaos at over the years. Rather than breaking from it and attempting dynamic poses straight-away, I’ve started to gauge it as artistic progress. There’s never been a solid, “official” design to his scales or plates, so I’m trying to get a sense of how they would lay and overlap the form.

It’s not accurate by any means, and this sketch paper isn’t designed for marker (Faber Castell’s PITT series, for the sole reason that it doesn’t bleed…much) but I’m still also trying to ‘loosen up’ my lines as I tighten the details. A signpost for further down the road…
