kindness by Cassander

kindness

it would have been kinder
to pierce my flesh with an obsidian blade,
cut my heart out as a sacrifice
to whatever gods you pray to
in the quiet moments when no one is watching

than to leave me here, crippled, on the rocks,
half-dead, half-alive,
beneath the soaring ravens
in a sapphire sky.

kindness

Cassander

How do you pick up the threads of an old life? How do you go on, when in your heart you begin to understand there is no going back? There are some things that time cannot mend. Some hurts that go too deep, that have taken hold.
