There were other cubs Dead's age, but those were... special. His sire called them "Dragons", or "Near-Dragons". Whatever it meant, they were important for the pack, and they knew it. He wasn't sure if Citrus and Rune knew that he was dead, but they knew he wasn't important, and they picked at that often.

As he was backed against the rocky walls on the outskirts of the pack's territory, Dead looked over the other cubs' shimmering and colorful feathers, and wondered what he would have been like if he was born in bright color...
