Thing is, some games use the exact same invisible "hit box" for both male and female character models, which means when using a female character model you will be damaged by attacks you THINK you've dodged - because the visible character model was not in its path - as the attack DID make contact with the invisible hit box (which extends beyond the visible character model).

It is not done often, but in games that do use the same hit boxes using a female character can actually be a distinct disadvantage as it becomes far more difficult to effectively dodge.
