Eventually I'll post a species ref for the Dy'Aer[dee-air], the species of alien life that Zipper is part of.
In that eventual ref, you'll learn that Zipper is of the scout-form of Dy'Aer, one of four sub-classes within the hive-based species. The other classes are common-form[sometimes referred to as "workers" due to the parallels with hive-insects & their ratio of birth in the Dy'Aer population], guardian-form[often referred to as "soldiers" though that designation fell out of favor with the Great Civilizing Age of the Dy'Aer], & the spawn-form[once referred to as Queens & Princes, due to their ability to procreate & their once-established role as leaders of the Dy'Aer hives. The Great Civilizing Age led to a severe decline in nearly all spawn-form reigns of power. Most Dy'Aer hives are led by councils in the modern age.]
