SPYRO and the Vale of the Voices

Part 1 – Dreams in the mist

'When all was lost and falling down,

And fire scorched the trembling land,

A battle fought to stand the ground.

Those elemental powers struggled through,

But hope was high and spirits true.

The evil gone for now with a world left shattered,

All life moves on as if nothing else mattered.

It raises the wonder to who did heed,

Those in most perilous need?'

A distinct feeling of being watched stirred the dragon to wake. It wasn't an unpleasant feeling, but one that unnerved slightly. This wasn't where he'd come to rest, a forest path warm dark and damp, how had he got here? Then peering puzzled, warily, through the veils of mist; the dragon glimpsed an almost glowing floating purple shape. And then a voice spoke,

“WELCOME STRANGER”.

It wasn't exactly a solid voice with physical presence, more an etherial one that seemed to enter his mind directly. Not particularly an imposing or threatening voice, instead almost friendly.

As the forest mists began to dissipate and fade, Spyro the purple dragon rose to his feet whilst keeping a fixed curious gaze on the wavering shape ahead. He was convinced the voice had originated from the spectral form, and now it was if it beckoned him to come closer. Mist further receded to reveal a dark forest tunnel of trees behind. The intention was clear, the mist-like presence wanted to lead him somewhere, show him something. And because it didn't feel malicious, and his curious nature, Spyro bravely headed forward and into the tree lined corridor.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
1. This short story is based shortly after the events in the game 'The legend of Spyro: Dawn of the dragon'.
2. This is my design interpretation of Spyro, sort of a combination of his design from the original games and the legend of Spyro trilogy.
3. Please view the picture and read the story before making a comment, the picture and story intentionally go together.
4. I tried out a new technique and style for the art, so the strange patchy look is intentional (watercolour base colours).
5. I rarely post written works that I've done, so I'm fully aware that my writing is not exactly good or consistent.
6. I will try to answer any sensible questions regarding the art or story, but bear in mind I will not reveal any of the story ahead of me posting it.
7. I will NOT put up with any asshattery or drama on my art or in the comments. I have zero tolerance for harassment regarding artistic differences and interpretation. Offenders will be blocked and comments deleted without warning.
8. I made this illustrated story for myself. It was an idea and concept I've been considering for a few years. I do not have to post it here or share it with anyone.

PICTURE INFO: Neat pencil lineart, watercolour wash background base, Aquarela water soluble pencils for refining background details and base colours for Spyro, Acrylic paint for Spyro and Cynder, and markers for creatures and details.
