Stardrives Kickstarter Launched

Zarpaulus

This morning, right when I got up for my day job, I launched my first Kickstarter in six years. This time to help fund my first foray into RPG writing.

http://kck.st/3whPP09 Stardrives, a Starfinder-Compatible module containing rulesets for four different starship drives, plus special rules for wormholes.

When I read the Interstellar Travel chapter of the Starship Operations Manual I was somewhat disappointed. Aside from having no connection to Absalom Station the new Faster-Than-Light drives that book introduced worked exactly the same as the default Drift drive. When Paizo announced their Starfinder Infinite program last year I looked up the existing Open Gaming License and found that Drift engines were not included, meaning that any writers who wanted to self-publish Starfinder-compatible without using Paizo's marketplace would at minimum need to use some different name for any FTL drives.
That settled it, I thought up three FTL drives that work fundamentally different from Drift on the spot and began working on the fine details.
Now after months of writing and commissioning illustrations, I feel I am at a point where I'm ready to present Stardrives, featuring five new methods of interstellar travel for your custom Starfinder campaign.

Bubblewarp Drive:
Just because matter can't travel faster than light doesn't mean the fabric of space-time itself can't. Form a bubble of warped space around your ship that contracts space-time in front of your ship while expanding it behind.

Hyperpath Drive:
Seek out naturally occurring knots in space-time and force them open to use as shortcuts through the vast depths of space. But traveling between those knots can take some time.

Blink Capacitor:
Tired of spending so much time cooped up on your ship as your cross the void between stars? Blink there instantaneously and then go on adventures while the ship is recharging.

Slower-than-Light Travel:
Or perhaps you like the downtime? Maybe you would like your players to discover a decrepit old wreck from the pre-FTL days or want to set a whole campaign aboard a starship? We have options for generation ships, sleeper ships, even virtual seeder ships.

Wormholes:
Want to take a shortcut without resorting to any high-tech stardrives? Take a dive into a good-old Einstein-Rosen Bridge. But watch out for gravitational tides.

Also:
-Adventure seeds,
-Eight sample starships, two for each stardrive.
-A reworked system for in-system travel.
Previous Books:
If you pledge at the $20 level I can send you one of my previously published novels. Either The Pride of Parahumans or Tales of the Para-Imperium. Currently found here.

Stretch Goals:
-$750: Star charts and system maps for use with the different stardrives.
-$1,000: Eight more sample starships.
-$1,500: I will adapt Stardrives to the Stars Without Number system so players of old-school sci-fi can use these drives in their campaigns, not just Starfinder players.
-$2,000: A short campaign guide for a custom Starfinder-compatible setting that incorporates all the new stardrive types.
-$4,000: If you give me this much I'll write up a complete campaign setting for my hard sci-fi Para-Imperium setting with custom classes to make up for the lack of magic.

Back it no, don't wait until the last minute, you'll probably sleep through it. http://kck.st/3whPP09
