One questions I have been asked in the past is how Viola breathes underwater. She doesn't have any gills, so what is her method? This question along with a couple other things makes me want to make her a new reference.
The way she breathes underwater is by literally filling her lungs with water. They can process the oxygen out of water and air. Just not super efficient at either of them. Think of having a form of asthma where if she does strenuous activity for too long she will be short of breath.

Now, I hear you asking, what happens when she gets out of the water? She has lungs full of fluid! Well, she basically vomits it up. More of a cough/blarg then hurling. But you get the idea.

For all of you that think she is really hot... Imagine every time she gets out of the water THIS happens.

Reminds me of a movie, think it was the abyss? Where they had liquid oxygen so they could dive even deeper

This has come up many time while developing this feature of the character. Liquid breathing is an interesting concept that has been considered in the past as a legitimate option in deep sea diving.

By attaching oxygen to a certain liquid carbon based molecule you can actually allow your lungs to take it out as though you were breathing it. Doing so will allow you to breathe underwater at depths that would normally crush you and your lungs. Though there are some downsides. For one, your lungs cannot get the liquid out on its own. They are too weak and its too dense. So you will have to have a tube doing that for you. And to get the liquid in there in the first place... Well lets say that if you try looking up information on this you will find a lot of dead mice photos. It causes shock as your body rejects liquid its lungs so much that you might die just from it trying. Not to mention the stress from trying to continue with it.

Overall, its really really neat. But the risks associated with it versus the rewards are pretty steep. Great to look up information on it though, as its still looked into on occasion :D

Oh wow, I didn't know it was thing to even be considered, let alone tested. That's also alot more progress than I expected them to make
