I just heard this song for the first time earlier and it hit me with some serious Ray feels. In the new version of his story, he's gonna have some serious baggage left over from a previous relationship when he meets his future beau.
I wanted to portray a melancholy feel here. This is Ray when he's been single for a few years, aside from a copious amount of one night stands. Certain songs he loves bring up bittersweet memories. But he's at the point where he's ready for a new beginning and starting to move on.
