He felt sick.

His stomach turned as he watched a distraught queen Rubi call to attention her pride. Lieutenant Kaseko could cut the tension with a claw and he held his breath. He sat with Comm and their family. All were worried and afraid for Jigsaw’s fate.

“Jigsaw will remain in Jioni’s care and supervision. She will not grow or have any hope of recovery if she is locked up without treatment, intensive therapy and rehabilitation will be ordered.”

Kaseko breathed. His heart pounding in his ears. Jigsaw would live. Maybe this was for the best? Maybe they could stay? Maybe… Comm could stay? Relief filled his heart though his expression stayed emotionless. He had to keep composure. He had to. For Comm, for Comm’s family.

Kaseko lost track of the queen’s speech after that.

This was the best that could have been hoped for.
