The immature form of our barbary drake, barbary whelps are voracious eaters, and when full grown quite capable of tackling prey larger than itself. Hatchlings display a wide variety of colour patterns, often in outrageous combinations. These bright, distinctive pelts are thought to advertise the immature drake's venomous nature to any would-be predators. Although somewhat unpredictable in captivity, whelps imprinted at hatching can be domesticated with some measure of success.

Each whelp stands 9" tall on his hind feet, and is a hair over 14" long from nose to tail tip. These guys are fully armatured with ball and socket joints, sit, stand, get into your flowers, eat stuff you drop on the floor while making sandwiches and bite any exposed toes. The head, hands and feet are cast resin from our original sculpt, hand painted, sealed and assembled on a hand sewn body.

This is the third generation of the barbary whelp design; we made them quite a bit bigger than the original in order to give them set-in eyes.
