Viktoria 3D Print Progression by World of Avania

Viktoria 3D Print Progression

World of Avania

Left: first attempt, mesh unprepared (tried filling in gaps with 3d print pen)
Center: Second attempt, fixed mesh, glue-on tail and belt gear, but low poly.
Right: Third attempt, turbosmoothed mesh, glued-on arms and head too.

Conclusions: Fixing mesh and jacking up the surface tessellation before trying to print is essential. Separating the belt objects and tail saved on supports and looks great. Printing the arms and head out separately allows the main body to be printed without use of supports saves time and resources, and makes for a nice clean base, but the quality of the arms and head suffers slightly due to being printed at a different angle, and introduces seams.

I’m not not sure if I’ll print another Viktoria (at least immediately) as I would not only like to paint at least one of these, but also start printing something new!
