[Alternate] Ice Cap Zone - Act 2

Woofle

Dear SEGA, I hear that legal troubles regarding Sonic 3's original soundtrack might be part of what's holding you back from a re-release of Sonic 3 ( www.sonic3remastered.com/ More info here)
I suggest an alternative solution to trying to get the rights to use the songs that are currently providing a roadblock in greenlighting the project.

Signed sincerely,
A lifelong fan

NOTE: I did not adhere to the polyphony limits of the sound chip.
[Rather than paring act 2 down like the original song did, I ramped it up. I couldn't resist paring it down in a few spots to bring back the feeling of isolation the original had in spades.]

Gosh that is pretty; I adore that 'ring' instrument you use a lot in this one. I really love all these alternate tunes you're doing, they're by far your best Sonic-style work!

It was one of the more icy sounding instruments I could find to use for this particular stage. I don't know if these are very good Sonic music, but I'm probably judging myself a little too harshly. I'm really glad you like them! :D

I've amassed quite a collection of Genesis-y Sonic fan songs (including your older ones) and I have to say that these alternate S3 songs you're doing are very much standouts of the collection! ^^ I would say not to judge too harshly, these are rather wonderful!(The sheer amount of quality-increase compared to your old Sonic fan songs is really impressive too!)

I cheated and used like 9 times the instruments in comparison to the old ones. XD I guess other than that, I've used a lot that I've learned from working on other types of music and songs on these, as well.

Yea, you know what makes good Sonic music. I'm glad you ramped it up instead, because I think knowing this could've been more but having less would've made me feel like I missed out. Also, this really builds on anticipation for the end of the stage. I would love to see what you'd do with Launch Base Zone with a prelude like this.

Launch Base came out... interestingly. XD It's up in my gallery, should be in the same folder as this one, if you're interested. :D
I always really, really loved the artwork in Ice Cap Zone -- especially act 2's background, and the mountains in act 1... It was really nice to pay homage to that and the original song in this way.

I'm gonna be listening to those, too. This kind of project is a great idea, though. I think you're someone that should definitely be tasked to making music for others. Of course, this is yours, but you have a good approach to it.

I ended up making a few more after that, even going to one of the non 'trouble' levels -- Hydrocity. All that's left now is the credits theme, and that'll be all the 'trouble' songs covered. Maybe I'll do more in the future, too... I'm just super happy you liked these, especially considering your avatar being Knuckles! :D

Thought I was on 'reply', whoops.

              Story of my life. >_o;

One of the reasons that I love this endeavor is because Sonic 3 & Knuckles is easily one of my favorite games. Ever. Even now I can happily plow through the game with ease and enjoy it to the fullest. In fact, I'm part way into a stream series with a friend of mine where we honor the Mega Man and Sonic crossover by playing their respective games. I handle most of the Sonic while he takes Mega Man.

Yeah, I'm the same way. I can play the game again and again, and even now, I'm still finding things I missed (the big rings in Sandopolis, Flying Battery, and Launch Base Zone eluded me when I was younger, along with numerous other goodies.) Also, that is an awesome homage you guys are doing!

It's great to experience them all over again with anyone that would watch.
