This is the night time version of one of the field map themes for southern Kerlynzia in my project. -LINK-
I went for very, very different feelings for the daytime and night time versions. Both are meant to signify Verse (the main character) 's state of general uncertainty in the wake of the massive storm that has ravaged the landscape of south Kerlynzia, but in very different ways.
Speaking of uncertainty, this one uses the motif much more fully. You've done a beautiful job on this one, which you apparently posted last month. Usually I wouldn't comment on one I'd missed by so long, but it relates to one that you posted recently. The bass drum beat keeps putting me in mind of a heartbeat, backed by some spectral tones that move in and out of the song to make way for that lovely wavering melody. I'm not sure if that's a string instrument like a violin/viola or if it's a horn, but it holds that melody so well. The worry and uncertainty here is almost tangible, combining with the bass drum heartbeat to give the song an almost pained quality, like the character is slowly breaking down, unable to handle what has happened.
Now you see the song's true final form! XD Well, all joking aside, this really was the 'intended' version of the tune, while 'Uncertainty' was a de-mix of it. As such, I honestly was never too satisfied with Uncertainty until the last draft. This one here is much more yearning and less wistful though, and it just felt 'right' to me. For this rendition, I try to stick to using all synth instruments, instead of anything acoustic, so a lot of them have really... unique sounds to them. XD I know the lead you mean though! I was so happy with how ethereal it sounded, especially given how driving the beat is.
At this point in the story, the main character has finally discovered a great truth, and should be happy. However, a lot of questions are left unanswered and a lot more have come up. The one thing in the world that this character has been seeking is now theirs, but suddenly there is so much more on the horizon...
