As soo as i saw this little fellow out side i ignored the pain in my ankle, ran upstairs, grabbed my camera and snapped pictures... sadly only a few came out right, this one being one of them
Cute little fellow i must say
A young Sparrow Hawk
:) a handy tip to remember for raptor ID is that all falcons have dark eyes (very dark brown, they look almost black). There are some buzzards (like the red-tailed that I have here in the states) that develop dsrk eyes with age but they have a more wedge shaped instead of rounded head and shorter blockier wings.
Working as a falconer I'm exposed to a lot of raptors.
Wow i bet you enjoy that
Main reason i thought that it would be a falcon is because lincoln cathedral has falcons nesting in it http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lincolnshire-22574283

This is not a Peregrine, rather it's likely a Sparrowhawk. I can't get a good sense of scale here, so judging on eyecolour alone it's either a young male [eyes haven't oranged up yet, it can take 4-5 years for that] or an adult female.
