Thanks to seeing creative works in progress of other artists and distilling a technique that would work for me from that.

I was thinking of putting a background in but... I couldn't really think of anything short of painting one in the same style that would fit ... and I don't want to do that right now... So.. off-white, with maybe a few smudges here and there will have to do ;)
