Under the Mistletoe by WistfulScribe

This human holiday was quite peculiar. Not only did the humans apparently invite 'family' over, which extended past their human lusii which were their genetic doners and even the doners' fellow offspring, to their hive to eat, but they also gave each other gifts without fear of deadly foul play.

Rose and Dave called it Christmas. And apart from the details mentioned prior, it actually seemed quite similar to a troll holiday. On 12th Perigee's Eve, they shared gifts with their lusii, closest friends, and their quadrants. They also decorated their hives like the humans were currently busy doing in the control room, now transformed into something of a common room for the trolls and humans aboard. However, the humans seemed to hold an unusual amount of causality, warmth, and generosity towards their holiday, things that would likely get you culled on Alternia.

Nonetheless, it was nice; strange, but nice.

Taking in the sight of all the red and green decorations that now littered the common room, she couldn't keep a small smile of appreciation off her face. It smelled nice in here now too, of earthy pine forests and warm cinnamon, and she guessed they also alchemized some fragrance for their holiday. It all looked fantastic, especially their Earth behemoth leaving, also dressed to the nines in many small and elegant ornaments consisting of several bright colors, complete with a glowing and radiant star perched atop the highest branch.

However, when she glanced up the doorway, she became puzzled. There was an object hanging from it that she was not familiar with. For a moment, she stared up at the green thing, with its three leaves and small circular fruit; she couldn't even tell if it was real greenery from down here.

She called in the expert.

"Um, Rose?"

The human female turned her head. "Yes, Kanaya? Is everything alright?"

Kanaya didn't take her eyes off the strange plant hanging from the doorway. "Yes. Everything's fine. I was just wondering what that green ornament is. Is there any reason why it is hanging from the doorway?"

The Seer put down what she was doing and came over to join her in gazing up at it. "We hope you guys won't mind. We put up mistletoe to complete the holiday scene."

"Mistletoe?"

Rose looked at her, somewhat bewildered as if realizing something. "Oh! Uh...It's kind of a game. When two people pass under it at the same time...they're...supposed to kiss. Nothing too serious, I assure you, unless they want to..."

"Oh...That's interesting...Kind of strange to share a casual kiss, however, don't you think?"

Concern crossed the human's face momentarily. "Does it seem all that strange to you? I mean, it's supposed to be just for fun."

Though, once Kanaya thought about it, she realized it could indeed be fun. But only if she could lure a certain clown out of hiding. Suddenly, this mistletoe didn't sound like such a bad idea.

"No, no...Never mind, Rose. It's fine," she assured quickly. "Thank you."

Now, where was Gamzee?

Attempting to be discreet, she quietly left the room and scanned the hallways. She then checked all the rooms, wary of being discovered by her target before she could discover him. Despite how careful she tried to be, she still received looks, especially from Karkat, who knew how much her behavior differed now from the norm. He said nothing though, leaving her to her business, and she was grateful.

Kanaya's search turned out to be utterly fruitless. She realized that at the same time she realized she had already checked this corridor before. With a weary, agitated sigh, she turned heel and headed back to the common room, defeated.

Gamzee was just one elusive troll when he wanted to be. It was always such a challenge to find him, and even more so to predict what he was going to do next. That was one of the reasons she fancied having him in her quadrants, though she had yet to settle on which one.

She dwelled on that choice as she stared at the steel tiles her legs carried him across, deep in thought. She considered many things, Karkat's feelings, Gamzee's rowdiness, and so on. Unfortunately, lost in her pondering, she forgot to be wary for her fellow travelers, trusting them to move out of the way anyway.

Kanaya was jolted out of her thoughts just as she entered the common room. She was barely able to register anything else before her mouth was rushed friskily, making her freeze in utter shock. When she did manage to open her eyes, they snapped open, desperate to see the culprit. However, by the time who it was clicked in her think pan, the surprise kiss was over, and Gamzee merely stood there smirking impishly under the human mistletoe.

Looks like he beat her to her idea. Realizing that, she gave him a playfully stern look and he grinned cheekily. Over his shoulders, the humans were watching them with a touch of concern, but they knew better to interfere with troll relationships.

The jade blood crossed her arms. "You stole my idea, you devious fiend," she remarked. "I hope you intend to make it up to me, Makara. It wouldn't be too courteous of you to neglect that duty."

For a moment, Gamzee seemed confused before he finally understood what she was saying. A glint came to his indigo-tinted eyes and smiled suggestively, and even his trademark white and black facepaint could not ruin the charm of his expression. It seemed they both agreed with the silent idea communicated.

For the first couple of steps back towards the hallway, their eyes were locked on each other with intent before Gamzee took the lead with Kanaya with the toes of her heels virtually glued to the backs of his sneakers. The first part of their plan was to put fair distance between them and anyone else. Once that was accomplished...well, Kanaya would decide that.

And deciding she was. Her jade-tinted eyes were practically burrowing into the clown's skull with the intensity of her gaze alone as she thought over what she planned to do. He had stolen a kiss from her when she had planned to surprise him by doing the same. Yes, Makara would pay for that. And the knowledge that she could jump him at anytime only made it all the more exciting.

In fact...she decided...she would pounce...now!

Without warning, she grabbed Gamzee by his shoulder and whirled him around. Before he could recover, she shoved him up against the cold, gray wall and went straight for his mouth, not even minding when she cut his lips with her fangs. He didn't seem to mind either, once his thinkpan caught up, and he kissed back just as friskily. She then felt him move his hands to her hips and even her rear, which caused her to growl into their kiss, but not quite with displeasure. He didn't hesitate to growl back and she loved it. She didn't even care about the chance of staining her favorite Virgo shirt with his blood; in fact, she welcomed it.

The affection warmed her body and drove her blood pump crazy, but Kanaya knew better than to get too engaged too soon. So, with the last clash of lips and clanking of fangs, she regretfully pulled away, leaving them both panting. Gamzee wiped away a good amount of blood from her chin with the back of his hand, but she had another idea.

"Wait..."

As asked, Gamzee paused, curious. However, his face soon gained one or two more tints of indigo when the jade blood helped herself to the rest of the shed blood with a sensual swipe of her tongue against the corner of his mouth. It left him staring, somewhat bewildered by the suggestiveness of that action, but she only licked her lips.

"What is it, Makara? Is there a problem?"

As expected, the stunned juggalo snapped out of it quickly. "Oh, no problem at all, Kansis," he replied before once again bringing his face close to hers. "So...what would you call you and me? Is this shit black or red?"

That caught her off-guard and her eyes widened. "O-oh..." she murmured, looking away while trying to think. "I don't really know yet. Both quadrants would fit our relationship, but we can't possibly have both..."

Gamzee place a finger to her lips gently and his expression was just as soft, with the continuous hint of mischief. "Shh, Kansis. I'm sure as long as we have something together, it will be a motherfucking miracle."

She hated Gamzee, but she also pitied him. It was hard having to choose, it was hard and no one understood. But Gamzee did, and he was willing to let things happen just as they were meant to happen.

And that was good enough for her.

Under the Mistletoe

This is a Christmas gift for my friend Jelly (http://jellypinkberry.tumblr.com/). I suggested Gamzee and Kanaya under the mistletoe and she agreed. Their relationship is mainly black but there are some red wondering thrown in. I'm not so good at this pairing, but I tried.

This is like the only gift I've managed to finish in all the chaos and stress. Hopefully I'll finish the rest of the gifts by early January. I should've known I wouldn't have done them on time.
