Hyakinthos the Hippocamp by WinterSoul

Hyakinthos the Hippocamp

WinterSoul

Hyakinthos has deep blue scales which help him to stay hidden in the vast, blue ocean. A handful of lucky divers have caught glimpses of his flashing purple markings, so those lucky few named him Hyakinthos after the purple-blue hyacinth flower.

Some may recall Sappheiros, one of my first paint jobs of the Hippocamp figurine. Well, Sappheiros and this custom were sold on the same day, I guess a lot of people were in need of blue that day! It's interesting to compare the paint jobs. For one thing, I'm a bit more brave about using stark, saturated color. Plus, the various pigments make it so much easier to get interesting color on these guys!

Hyakinthos already has a home, if you'd like your own Hippocamp, go here: http://wintersoulstudios.bigcartel.com/product/hippocamp-figurine

From sculpting, to casting, to hand painting, these Hippocamp are made by my hand and are truly a one-of-a-kind sculptures with much love poured into their making. They're cast in resin and painted in pastel and acrylic. This particular one also has flashes of chameleon paint on his fins to add a bit of variation to his deep blue scales.
