A while back I found a sketch re-imagining a -very- old character, Kumo. I decided to keep it around as a practice/warm-up painting that I could work on whenever there's extra time. (Or when I need something to nervously pick at... I guess it's better than picking at my kneaded eraser or tearing up pieces of paper...) His concept is something I'm interested in, but I've always imagined him to be more bird-like than I've depicted him as in the past. Here he's surveying the ground, looking for weary travelers that would easily be swayed by his illusions.
