Pressing the Veil by Windfalcon

Pressing the Veil

Windfalcon

Between our worlds is a gateway,
Not closed by a door or barred by a wall, but hidden in plain sight,
Which of course,
Is the best way to hide something.

To find this gate you simply need to feel it,
And to believe it is there,
Though it also helps to be in good favor with those whose world it leads to.

Children and simple dreamers think any world so beautiful is a place of good,
Where no pain or danger can find a lost traveler.
Be wise and do not be naive,
For all worlds hold evil and all worlds hold good,
And it is up to you to look over your shoulder and guard your back.

A realm of beauty lies beyond,
Of magic and creatures long forgotten, or not yet discovered.
Bring your wits but leave your iron
For offense is not so easily forgiven,
And it is much easier to enter than it is to leave.

So utterly beautiful, and your poem reminds me of a dearly-beloved song from my childhood:

    "Deep inside the forest,
    There's a door into another land;
Here is our life and home.
    We are staying
    Here forever in the beauty of this place;
All along, we keep on hoping...

    Maybe,
    There's a world
Where we don't have to run,
    And maybe,
    There's a time we'll call our own,
Living free in harmony and majesty...
Take me home, take me home.

    Walking through a land
where every living thing is beautiful...
Why does it have to end?
    We are calling
All so sadly, on the whispers of the wind,
As we send a dying message:

    Maybe,
    There's a world
Where we don't have to run,
    And maybe,
    There's a time we'll call our own,
Living free in harmony and majesty...
Take me home, take me home."

nods It's the theme song to the old Grizzly Adams show, which was one of my favorites growing up. :)
