napping fox

Widdershins

This time not an art, but one of my family member who is a very precious thing for me.

Some story comes with this one.
I work with foxes (as a volunteer) since 3 years at a "sanctuary" which is in beginner steps for a sanctuary but the most excellent place for a shelter with great people and care for all animals. Yearly we get many orphan or injured fox kits who we try to offer place and chance to even live - and this little girl is one of those who would have no chance in the wild.
She and two of her brothers were found at a building era very thin, dirty fur with skin and bones only as the building noises and machines scared their mother off who never returned. I worked with her personally - I usually have yearly some fox kit for 2 months in my care until their vaccination project is not completed - but this very special one stayed under my care and trust.
By today she has her own enclosure and her best friend is our dog she grew up with. Next spring she will be 2 years old and she surely is one very special creature in my life. I could tell stories about her pranks and how to word.. "cant keep any personal space" stories - but that would take ages.

I call her Eshu, more or less she listens her name, but not alway - and definietly someone always keep me smiling :>

I used to work at a place that rehabilitated wild animals, and we had two silver foxes once who were the sweetest things ever
I love foxes so much, and this lil girl definitely looks happy

I wish we could afford a rehab center here properly, these rescued foxes have very small chances and the place I am volunteer at have full hands and not much of an income to build another enclosure for ALL their foxes. Yearly they get kits, too much to handle and saying no means put the poor one to sleep as no other chances for them :<

That's the saddest thing I've ever heard D:
However ours wasn't too big either, and it didn't specialize in foxes, we just got a couple from time to time
It was mainly for predatory birds, but we also had a reptile house for all the mistreated and disowned reptiles people would buy
There were tortoises there whose shells were jagged and pointy from malnutrition
Its a sad job, but I'm glad there's people out there (including us) who will do it to help them
