[Commission] Celestial Crossing by WhiteMantis

[Commission] Celestial Crossing

WhiteMantis

An amazing commission for lothaekor, who requested Nae riding his dragon character Lothaekor in eastern form!

This was the first "exception" commission I did, meaning I took it while I was closed, because I loved the idea so much and really wanted to draw this! <3

Wonderful clouds and lighting in this image. The birds are a nice touch.

They are called 'scalebirds' and help give a sense of size and distance!
      Thank you very much!

Gah the clouds and the water are absolutely wonderful looking. Strong contrast, with smooth reflections and lots of soft colors. <3 The incredible movement of the characters is so eye catching as well!

Thank you very much! The clouds are stylized to be a hybrid between realistic clouds and how they are depicted in traditional Japanese art! I'm glad you like them! ^^ Thank you very much!

Stunning use of colours there. I always envy artists who are able to use purples effectively in a subtle way to bring out a vivid and vibrant range of colours int heir composition. The distance-fading of the dragon character into the background is also a nice touch, because it really made the image pop and look 3-dimensional.

It may be an amazing idea, but you did an even better job of bringing the idea to life.
