[Animation - WIP] Jeibu - Neutron Kick

Something I did on Stream last night on Twitch, for my boy Jeibu, performing his Neutron Kick. Not bad for 3 hours on stream, granted two of the key-frames was done already.


I'm taking up a new stratagy, where I'm just going to shit out quicker low-detail frames for most of the animations and focus on getting the characters into playable beta as quickly as possible, so that I can get the work up onto my patreon quicker for patrons. THEN, once everything is layed out, I'll be going back over the animations to clean and detail them.


This animation is almost done for the beta-phase. I'm gonna be blasting through various critters in this fassion.

The attack it self, is Jeibu's own adaptation of an attack he learned from Gejhi, Phantom Kick:

While Gejhi's kick is named after his own dark energy's manifestation, causing the attack to blast a wave of dark energy out at the foe, dealing 3 hits before blasting them away, Jeibu's version is named Neutron to represent the dense mass of his dark matter behind his kick, causing 1 solid high-damage hit, which, if charged, can completely ignore a foe's guard.


Gejhi's stepping portion gives him invincibility frames, while Jeibu's gives him 1 hit of armor. The hit on Jeibu's armor will ignore damage. Similar to Gejhi, Jeibu can dash-cancel the stepping portion of the attack, including when he armors a hit, to use it as a defensive tool. (He can still be grabbed/thrown.) I'm considering also play around withthe idea of giving him additional hits on his armor, ones that will make him take damage, but will see how it pans out. I don't wanna over do it. Seeing that dash trots have a blink of i-frames to them, I figure dash-canceling after armoring a hit is good enough to avoid damage. I might consider making some sort of "EX" version that uses meter and lets him tank extra hits.


The stomping portion of this attack will have a small hitbox in front of him, that will cause no damage, but stun the foe, long enough for him to kick. I'm likely going to tweek the effects of this though for when he armors a hit before the stomp. I may also allow him to persist the armor while charging in the turned away pose.


Overall, Jeibu is slower, and cannot combo as loosely as Gejhi, but has a much stronger damage output, and has a generally defensive kit. Jeibu was only able to partly learn from Gejhi, before things came up that separated the two. Plus, the difference in there power signatures - Gejhi's being fairly uncommon - cause Jeibu to improvise what did stick. Jeibu ended up picking up other techniques from Aurumo, a bit from his mother, Evea, with a lil bit of his own stuff mixed in.


Jeibu is not a clone fighter of Gejhi, they only share a few moves, and those are pretty different in effect.
