Description: Dracobats are named so because although they are dragons, there are many traits they share with bats. Firstly, they are coated in a thin layer of fur over their scales. They are also small compared to typical dragons, usually no larger than domestic house cats. Their eyesight is somewhat poor, especially during the day. As a result, they are mostly nocturnal and use sound as well as smell to navigate their surroundings. They have the ability to use echolocation and well as using their tongues to “smell,” similarly to snakes. While they can digest meat, they often prefer to feed by sinking their fangs into their prey and draining the blood to drink it.

Unlike bats, however, dracobats tend not to be very social and mostly live alone or with one lifelong mate. They can breathe incredibly hot, royal blue flames if their body temperature is warm enough. Malnourished and/or cold dracobats can only breathe fire in short, weak bursts. Dracobats can come in several different colors, but are almost always at least somewhat dark, save for a few rare subspecies.
